An easy, flavorful, and healthy breakfast for the whole family that doesn’t take long to mix together

We have an amazing avocado toast recipe. When you try it, you’ll agree!

With more time to prepare meals, we’ve become more daring cooks. Our recent culinary innovation includes spreading mashed avocado and scrambled eggs on toast and topping it with chili crisp.

You’ve probably had avo toast just as often as we have, if not more. Seriously, has there been anyone who hasn’t? The open-faced sandwich is a cafe darling in Lisbon, as it is in Sydney, San Francisco, and everywhere in between.

You may be a hipster, but have you tried the dish that combines eggs with chili crisp? If you haven’t tried avo toast nirvana, you’re missing out on a state of culinary bliss that can be achieved with a few simple ingredients and no fancy equipment.

Chili crisp is an essential ingredient in the kitchen and in life. An irresistible combination of salty, sweet, spicy, and umami flavors, the Chinese condiment of fried garlic, shallots, and chili oil can be used to enhance nearly any dish.

The Lowdown on Avocado Sandwiches

Let’s get straight to the point: eating avocado on toast will not help you lose weight. There are about 30 grams of fat and slightly more than 300 calories in one avocado.

Although most of the fat in an avocado is monounsaturated fat (the good kind), there is still some saturated fat. As an added bonus, avocados are a great source of healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins. To rephrase, avocados are both nutritious and calorie-dense.

The key is to eat the best avocado toast possible and make those calories count.

We like to use a perfectly ripe avocado and high-quality bread from one of Lisbon’s many cafes or bakeries when we make avocado toast at home. To begin, we included the standard ingredients such as fresh lime juice, olive oil, red pepper flakes, and sea salt.

The outcome was excellent, on par with avocado toasts we had in major cities like Amsterdam and London during our travels. Hooray!

However, we still had a long way to go before we arrived at our destination: avo toast. The addition of eggs came next.

Avocado and Egg Combination

An excellent way to turn avocado toast from a tasty snack into a meal is to top it with a serving of protein. We usually eat avocados in the morning, unless we’re eating them in guacamole with chips, so adding an egg was a natural progression.

Prepare the eggs however you like, whether that be poaching, frying, or scrambling. Unless they’re French omelettes, we usually just scramble our eggs. So that’s what we do in this recipe.
