Actress Anne Heche was hospitalized after a fiery crash in California last week, and police are now treating the incident as a possible felony.

Heche’s “blood showed signs of impairment, and that is why it is now being investigated as a felony traffic collision,” said LAPD officer Jeff Lee.

Officer Annie Hernandez added that while the initial blood test showed the presence of narcotics, more analysis is needed to rule out the possibility that the patient received any of these drugs while in the hospital.

The charge was increased because someone was hurt inside the damaged property. A female resident of the residence reportedly sought medical attention after suffering minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Heche shared some news about the actress’ health: “has severe burns that need to be repaired surgically and a pulmonary injury that necessitates mechanical ventilation. At this time, she is a patient at the Grossman Burn Center.”

While driving last week, Heche collided with a house in Mar Vista, setting fire to both his vehicle and the structure. After being extracted from the car, Heche was taken to the hospital. A fundraising effort has been established to assist the tenant who lost their home in the fire.

The results of Heche’s bloodwork back up the theory that the actress was impaired at the time of the accident.
