The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Monday that Bill Crane, an analyst for Atlanta’s WSB-TV, was fired after making fun of Trump’s “looming orange face.”

The news station WSB-TV severed ties with Crane, a veteran TV and radio analyst and commentator, after general manager Ray Carter claimed in a statement that Crane “uttered remarks not aligned with our commitment for fair and unbiased reporting and analysis.”

In a broadcast from Sunday, Crane discussed Trump’s “orange face” as part of an analysis of voting trends for the upcoming election.

In an on-air interview, Crane explained that after Labor Day, “undecided voters and nonaligned voters really start focusing on the election ahead,” and that keeping Trump’s fantasy of elections being stolen in November of 2020 in play keeps Trump and his looming orange face in front of voters at a time when they are trying to decide how they will vote.

After working at WBS as an analyst since 2006, Crane was let go the following day.

“Thus, we have decided to immediately sever ties with Mr. Crane. The loyalty of our audience has been built over many years, and we are committed to deserving that loyalty “That was the end of the statement.

After the dust settled, the seasoned analyst issued a statement on Facebook in which he addressed the situation and extended an apology to anyone he may have offended.

Crane admitted that he could have been more politically correct in his language but stood by his analysis: “I stand by the assessment and analysis.” With humor, sarcasm, the occasional pun, and a bit of tongue in cheek, “I would like to think part of the reason I have been able to do this for 22 years in a top 10 media market is that I call the hard balls and strikes on either side.”

Crane further explained that he has employed the phrase “Donald Trump has been called “The Orange Man” in media outlets.

“The badge is in the mail, but I’m not going anywhere. The pride has been hurt, and I feel a little down, but I’m not out “Crane drew a close.
