due to personal matters.
As he deals with a personal problem, Tom Brady is anticipated to skip several days of the Buccaneers training camp, beginning with Thursday’s joint practice with the Dolphins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Brady’s third excused absence in the previous six practices and his second this week were noted before practice got underway on Thursday. In a press conference later in the day, coach Todd Bowles is anticipated to address the star quarterback’s absence, according to Rapoport.
The information is released in advance of the Buccaneers’ first preseason game against the Dolphins on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Even before Thursday’s revelation, Brady wasn’t going to participate in the game.
In his place, Tampa Bay looks to seasoned quarterback Blaine Gabbert, second-year passer Kyle Trask, and longtime Buccaneers back-up Ryan Griffin.
After the Bucs’ preseason opener this past weekend, they will have Monday off, so there’s a chance Brady won’t lose a lot of practice time past Thursday.
