It’s likely that you’ve driven past Craig’s BBQ on your way from Memphis, Tennessee, to Hot Springs, Arkansas, along scenic Highway 70. The finest barbecue in all of Arkansas can be found at this unpretentious roadside eatery in DeValls Bluff. Just like at any good barbecue joint, the emphasis is on the meat and not on fancy decorations. It’s even better that after 75 years in business, this restaurant continues to receive accolades.

Craig Bros. Cafe (Craig’s BBQ), which had its origins at a kitchen table, opened to the public in 1947.

In DeValls Bluff, just off the beautiful Highway 70, you’ll find the epitome of the classic small-town barbecue joint. And people travel from all over the state to visit.

In this eatery, you won’t find any unnecessary frills or elaborate decor. As an added downside, seating is extremely limited; you’ll be fortunate to even find a table.

The in-the-know customers always call ahead to place their orders, so if you want to come in, you should do the same. The restaurant accepts only cash payments, so plan accordingly.

The menu at this unassuming restaurant consists solely of classic BBQ dishes, all of which have been expertly smoked.

However, many customers rave about the BBQ pork sandwich, calling it the best BBQ they’ve ever had.

It’s a sloppy mess that’s bursting at the seams with juicy, flavorful meat and finished off with tangy, fresh coleslaw. Even better, it’s covered in that delicious BBQ sauce everyone loves.

You can’t go wrong with either the pork sandwich or the ribs. If you’re a true barbecue fan, you know the meat needs to be so tender that it just melts in your mouth.

Craig’s delivers on that promise, and the restaurant’s famed ribs ensure a steady flow of customers. Several of them have been regulars for well over half a century.

Chicken, beef, sausages, and other meats are also available at this restaurant. Each meal comes with a single side and a glass of water.

You’ll want to buy extra BBQ sauce because you’ll love it so much.

It’s been serving up award-winning BBQ for over 50 years for a reason: a single bite will convince you.
