BASKING RIDGE, N.J. (CBS) — As of this month, actor Gary Busey is facing sexual assault charges stemming from an incident at a fan convention in New Jersey.

On Friday, Busey, 78, was arrested by Cherry Hill police on two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment.

The crimes allegedly committed on August 12-14, 2018, at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb, are the basis for the charges.

Busey, a resident of Malibu, California, was set to appear as a special guest all three days.

A message left with police for more information went unanswered for some time. Busey’s representative didn’t immediately respond to a Saturday message seeking comment, so it’s unclear if he has an attorney who can speak to the charges.

Although Busey first gained recognition for his performance as the title character in “The Buddy Holly Story” (1978), he is better known for his supporting roles.
