Geneva Motor Show has been canceled, but the second show will take place in Qatar

The organizers said it’s due to “uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitical.”

They cited “uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics” as the reason.

The Geneva Motor Show will move to Doha, Qatar in 2023, as announced by the Comité permanent du Salon international de l’automobile de Genève. This effectively cancels the planned February 2023 gathering in Geneva.

In light of “uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as risks related to the development of the pandemic,” the foundation’s president, Maurice Turettini, has announced that the foundation will be concentrating solely on planning the event in Doha in 2023.

The dates of February 14-19, 2023, were set in April for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Turettini stated that everything possible was done to go ahead with the Geneva event that was meant to have a better format. Although ” the risks overweighed the opportunities,” as Turettini put it.

In November of that year, Qatar will host the first-ever Geneva International Motor Show. Even though exact dates have yet to be determined, it will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). There will also be a number of satellite locations set up to provide drivers with a wide range of exciting opportunities.

Auto Shows, Both Past and Future:

Sandro Mesquita, CEO of the Geneva International Motor Show, said, “We are now fully focused on organizing GIMS in Doha and look forward to confirming the dates and format of this ground-breaking event with our partners at Qatar Tourism in the near future.”

Despite the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the Geneva International Motor Show has been on and off again. In 2020, the announcement came out of nowhere, forcing organizers to rush through a virtual auto show. The most recent GIMS that went off without a hitch occurred in 2019.

In 2021, the GIMS organizers revealed that Doha, Qatar would become the second host city for the annual meeting. The idea for the event, which takes place every two years, was developed in conjunction with Qatar Tourism.
