Our collaboration with Sonos, a leader in audio innovation, will transform your family movie nights. From the little Ray to the best-selling Arc, their selection of smart soundbars enables you to personalize your home theater experience and bring the movies to life.

I occasionally show my friends our family’s weekly schedule just to see their horrified reactions. Our schedule is best described by an exploding head emoji because we have three kids who are all involved in various sports. By the time Friday comes around, we have gathered every blanket in the house, made a cocoon out of munchies, and settled in for a quiet family movie night before a weekend of competitions and games.

Thanks to Sonos’ selection of soundbars and portable speakers, we won’t have to worry about excellent sound even when we move movie night outside. Our biggest issue is finding a movie that will appeal to both our preteen boys and our 4-year-old daughter, who only wants to watch Sing 2 on repeat. (In the truest sense, it’s our own Mission Impossible.) Even if we haven’t yet mastered the art of selecting the ideal film, I can share a few pointers and tactics that ensure my family is always warm, comfortable, and nourished while we relax.

Choose Your Film Before the Start Time

To prevent the drama of last-minute wrangling and uncertainty, I strongly advise picking your movie the day before. For all of my parenting difficulties, I typically employ the strategy that works best for me: concessions and inducements. If the guys let their sister pick the movie, I’ll let them pick the snacks, and if all else fails, I’ll give the kids who have to see Frozen 2 another time an extra dessert (and again). Even if you decide on a movie at the last minute, setting up your Sonos will just take a few minutes thanks to their new soundbar, the Ray, which requires only a single cable connection to your TV to go from unboxing to listening.

Grazing Before Dinner

For a kid-safe serving setup, omit the lavish meal and instead put your favorite snacks on a non-breakable tray. Try homemade crudites and pita bread with a variety of dips, including five-minute hummus, homemade ranch, and shoyu dip. Alternately, choose upscale deviled eggs with smoky kale chips. Another favorite is an easy-to-transport omelet sandwich for breakfast for dinner. Additionally, don’t forget the entertaining beverages, such as this Mango and Basil Fizz Mocktail, which is suitable for both adults and children, or chill a bottle (or two) of your preferred wine for the adults in attendance.

Make the most of your space.

Throw a few cushions on the floor of your living room or bedroom and construct a fort out of pillows and sheets if you don’t have a separate TV room (like these soft stonewashed linen stunners). It doesn’t have to be fancy to be warm, so add some string lights to the fort for an extra-special atmosphere. No of the size of your room, the Sonos Ray has you covered. This little soundbar can fit in small locations without sacrificing sound quality (think: shelving and cubbyholes), and it works with almost every TV in your house.

Develop a theme

Pick a theme to make a movie night a little bit more memorable. This might not work for every Friday night. Instead of rushing out to buy a ton of themed decor, just use your imagination. sports theme Pick a classic movie like Space Jam, The Mighty Ducks, or Bend it Like Beckham, have guests wear their favorite jerseys, serve homemade corn dogs fit for a stadium, and transform a basic cupcake recipe by adding icing and a few extra piped lines to make the cupcakes like soccer balls. Make it enjoyable—it doesn’t have to be worthy of Pinterest! The Ray emphasizes the sound of human voices so that you can always follow the tale, sports theme and all, so regardless of how boisterous the party becomes, you’ll always hear every word of the movie.

You should watch your movie outside.

It is shameful to squander such a priceless gift because early autumn frequently provides us with the most beautiful weather. Take your movie night outside on a screen with a projector (or a large white sheet). High-quality outdoor listening is possible with the portable [Sonos Move] (https://bit.ly/3bdGdf3) (just make sure you’re close enough to WiFi to connect). A bonfire, hotdogs on a stick, campfire potatoes, and s’mores will bring the evening to a close. To really steal the show, I’d upgrade the dessert for the grownups to this S’more Semifreddo.
