According to the Montgomery Advertiser, Jacksonville State punter Jack Dawson was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting a former teammate while at Troy.

According to the report, Dawson turned himself in to authorities in Troy, Alabama on Monday and was subsequently released on bond after enrolling at Jacksonville State. On October 5th, he will have his day in court.

Dawson was charged with three counts of assault in 2020, one of which was for sexual assault. Warrants claim that in October of 2020, Dawson “forcibly sodomized” his teammate, causing bleeding and bruising.

About a month later, he allegedly picked up that same teammate and dropped him heavily onto the deck of a private pool, leaving a large bruise. Finally, in December of 2020, Dawson allegedly punched that teammate seven times in the face, breaking his nose.

After that year, Dawson moved to Jacksonville State and immediately became a starter for the Gamecocks. As of Monday night, the school had not responded to the Advertiser, and the Australian native’s name was still on the roster. On Saturday, it will kick off its season at Stephen F. Austin.
