Mulvaney estimated that the number of people close enough to Trump to provide the FBI with the information they needed to execute the search warrant was between six and eight.
Mulvaney told CNN that this person “would be somebody very close inside the president” because they “would be handling things on a day-to-day basis and would know where documents were.” “I would estimate that six or eight people knew that,” the speaker said.
He went on to say, “I didn’t know there was a safe at Mar-a-Lago, and I was the chief of staff for 15 months,” implying that his current level of involvement with Trumpworld is lower than it was during his time as chief of staff.
In order to obtain a search warrant, or a portion thereof, it would be valid. To obtain a search warrant, the FBI also needed to prove that the documents were in imminent danger of being destroyed or removed from the site, as Mulvaney put it.

Trump’s son Eric confirmed to Fox News that the FBI conducted a search of Mar-a-Lago on Monday as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into how Trump handled classified material. In a scathing post on his Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump called the raid a “surprise attack” and “POLITICS,” adding, “All the while our Country is going to HELL!”
The head of the National Archives and Records Administration claimed in January that the organization had recovered about 15 boxes’ worth of material from Trump’s opulent Florida resort and found classified information among the contents. As a result, the agency referred the matter to the Justice Department, which launched an investigation into his handling of sensitive information.
