The 122nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft went to Zamir White, a running back for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders appear to have found a replacement for former Alabama star running back Josh Jacobs after passing on his fifth-year option.
From what we can gather from White, Las Vegas has acquired a formidable sprinter. Despite weighing only 215, the 215-pounder has earned praise for his “explosive style of play” and “ability to push piles and drag defenders for extra yards” from Draft Network’s Damian Parson. As a result of his excellent vision, balance, and power, White should be able to help the Raiders in short-yardage situations.
Bleacher Report says, “He can be an effective back very early in his career in an offense that features downhill runs that lets him set the tone.” He excels at “quickly cutting and lowering his shoulder through would-be tacklers.”
White played college football for Georgia and was a key cog in the Bulldogs’ 2021 national championship run. The 2020 and 2021 seasons, the Bulldogs’ fourth-round pick led the team in rushing (304 attempts), yards (1,635), and rushing touchdowns (22). Considering that he had to sit out for entire seasons due to ACL injuries, his numbers are even more remarkable.
The name “Zeus” first applied to White when he was a high schooler because of his extraordinary athleticism.
I’m going to have to say ninth grade. Because of my speed and strength, people probably gave me the name Zeus. “Probably ninth grade,” White told reporters, as quoted by Sports Illustrated.
The North Carolina native was the nation’s top-ranked running back in 2018, drawing scholarship offers from powerhouses like Clemson and Alabama before settling on Georgia.
Current thinking on White
White is currently a middle-of-the-pack player in Las Vegas. The rookie RB needs to make the most of his opportunities behind seasoned veterans Jacobs and Kenyan Drake. That was on Thursday night in Canton against Jacksonville in the Hall of Fame Game.

At the end of the first preseason week, White had accumulated 75 total yards (on 11 rushes and 3 receptions). The Raiders’ new weapon, complete with jump cuts and hit sticks, looked menacing in his introduction to the league.
It’s a good time for me, Josh, Brittain, and the rest of the gang. To be honest, we couldn’t care less about our rivals. White said to reporters, “We just go out there and have fun.” when asked about intrateam competition. “Josh and I, Cam. Being in their company and picking their brains. Exactly, I find that to be the most satisfying aspect. Only arguing and grinding with them.
Week 2 of the preseason features a matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Minnesota Vikings. White will likely get more shots at the basket in the near future.
