Serie A scores, takeaways: Juventus stays hot; Genoa and Napoli share the points

The size of the Neapolitans’ attack has been very surprising.

Napoli stayed within striking distance of Nerazzurri after Inter Milan’s victory over Spezia on Saturday night, while AC Milan drew 1-1 with Atalanta on the road. Napoli’s dominance continued thanks in large part to the efforts of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored a crucial brace and displayed his full skill set in front of his new fans at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The second weekend of Serie A soccer will feature arguably the most anticipated match. After coach Gian Piero Gasperini declared that he was for sale in the pre-match press conference, the home team took the lead on a goal by Ruslan Malinovskyi. After a strong second half effort, AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer scored an equalizer to bring the score to 1-1. After a scoreless first half in Bergamo, both teams came out in the second half determined to win it.

Day’s star player Kvaratskhelia is someone every soccer fan should remember for at least the next few seasons. The Georgian player scored twice against AC Monza in the season’s opening home match, just a week after scoring in his Serie A debut against Hellas Verona. Napoli’s first-half goal was so spectacular that it brought back memories of Lorenzo Insigne, the club’s former captain. Kvaratskhelia’s second goal of the game came in the second half, demonstrating once again what a tremendous talent he is.

Superior Objective

Inter Milan’s opening goal against Spezia was set up by an outstanding combination involving Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, second only to the Kvaratskhelia’s stunner against Monza.

The biggest shocker

AC Monza came into the season with high expectations but has struggled so far. Despite all of their new players, the promoted team lost their first game 1-0 to Torino with only one goal scored. Important defender Andrea Ranocchia was hurt on Sunday and will be out for a while. Giovanni Stroppa, the team’s coach, has already been put in a precarious position, and the upcoming games will determine his fate.
