The Associated Press reports: On Thursday night, the Connecticut Sun defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 93-69, led by Alyssa Thomas’ 18 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, and Jonquel Jones’ 17 points and eight boards.
The Connecticut Sun (24-11) have locked up the No. 3 seed in the WNBA playoffs, ahead of Las Vegas (25-10) and Chicago (25-10). With their 13-22 record, Los Angeles could no longer make the playoffs.
Connecticut jumped out to a first-half lead of 54-43 thanks to double-digit scoring from Thomas, DeWanna Bonner, and Brionna Jones.
Connecticut’s Brionna Jones scored 16 points, and Aliyah Bonner added 13 points and seven assists. Jonquel Jones surpassed Taj McWilliams-Franklin as Connecticut’s all-time leader in blocks with her 268th of her career.
For the Los Angeles squad, Brittney Sykes poured in 18 points, while Nneka Ogwumike added 10 points and nine boards.
