This exclusive preview of Hilary Swank’s new ABC series answers questions about Alaska as Swank mercilessly searches for answers

The upcoming fall drama premieres Oct. 6.

Hilary Swank is seeking clarification. Only ET exclusively debuts the first official teaser and key art for the Oscar winner’s role as investigative journalist Eileen Fitzgerald in ABC’s upcoming fall drama Alaska Daily.

Alaska Daily, from creator Tom McCarthy, follows Eileen as she embarks on a quest to find both personal and professional redemption. Eileen is described as “a fiercely talented and award-winning investigative journalist who leaves her high-profile New York life behind after a fall from grace” to join a daily newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska.

In the teaser, which ET has exclusively unveiled, Eileen is drawn into a decades-old cold case concerning the death of a missing lady who was kidnapped when she was only a teenager. Eileen discovers that there is more to the case and potentially dishonest reasons why the police and the courts aren’t interested in pursuing justice as she delves deeper and deeper into the investigation’s murky underbelly.

What someone doesn’t want you to know is good journalism. She’s undoubtedly getting closer to learning that, though.

The cast of Alaska Daily additionally includes Craig Frank as Austin Teague, Grace Dove as Rosalind “Roz” Friendly, Matt Malloy as Bob Young, Meredith Holzman as Claire Muncy, Jeff Perry as Stanley Kornik, and Pablo Castelblanco as Gabriel Tovar.

On Thursday, October 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, Alaska Daily makes its debut.
