Those who prefer their food on the fiery side can celebrate. Smashburger is bringing back the Scorchin’ Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich after the huge success of its one-time April 2021 rollout.

The sandwich, made with Nashville hot crispy chicken, spicy red pepper mayo, and pickles on a classic toasted bun, was a huge hit at many restaurants across the country last year and quickly ran out of stock.

In celebration of the return of the chicken sandwich, the better burger chain will sell them for $5 at select locations (both online and in-store) until September 30, 2022. Any modifications or replacements will incur an additional fee.

Marketing for the original Scorchin’ Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich called for an end to the infamous “chicken sandwich wars” between competing restaurant brands and hailed the resilience of the restaurant business in the wake of a trying year. Colorado-based chain offered free chicken sandwiches to fast food employees and buy-one-get-one discounts for customers as part of the promotion.

Not only has Smashburger brought back the Scorchin’ Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich, but it has also introduced a number of new menu items. The adult chicken tenders and scorchin’ hot chicken tenders debuted in March at the fast-casual burger chain with three and five-piece orders, respectively, and with sauce options including BBQ, ranch, and honey mustard.

To further diversify its burger selection, Smashburger added the Colorado Burger to its regular menu. The burger, which was previously only available in Colorado, includes an Angus beef patty topped with grilled Anaheim chili peppers, melted aged cheddar and pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo on a spicy toasted chipotle bun.
