US Top fashion model arrested with 4 month warrant on murder charge

Touched’s Courtney Clenney arrested on murder charge 4 months after boyfriend’s death

Handfield asserted earlier this year that if the woman had been Black, “I think [police] would have detained her and let the process play out.” She hasn’t been arrested, though, because of the way she was treated.

The police claim that a domestic disagreement led to Obumseli’s fatal stabbing. After the incident, Clenney called the police and explained that she had feared for her life and had acted in self defense. As a result of Florida’s Baker Act, which offers emergency mental health assistance and short-term detention for those who are at risk of suicide or mental health crises, she was eventually hospitalized for psychiatric examination. However, five days after the stabbing, she was seen leaving a hotel bar after being quickly freed.

Police were aware of Clenney and Obumseli before the deadly stabbing because they had been summoned to their apartment at least four times in recent months due to disturbances; however, no charges were made. The two had recently relocated from Austin, Texas to Miami.

The family of Obumseli has insisted that they have never viewed him as a threat.

Five days after the murder, Obumseli’s cousin Karen Egbuna stated at a press conference, “We have no cause to assume that this was a case of self defense.”

Clenney was detained at the East Hawai’i Detention Center as of Wednesday and is scheduled to show up in district court on Thursday. She will “eventually be extradited to Florida,” according to local police.
