CITY OF NEW YORK — People from New York will probably regret forgetting their umbrellas on Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service’s forecast, heavy rain may accompany thunderstorms throughout the day.
Precipitation is expected to start in the morning with an 80% likelihood and have a maximum 1-inch accumulation.
The meteorological service’s New York office tweeted that “the possibility for rain then remains for much of the day.”
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook that will last into the evening.
According to the outlook, a warm front traveling northward into the region will collide with a second slow-moving weather trough coming from the west.
The assessment states that this morning’s showers and solitary thunderstorms “have the potential to produce severe rainfall, and isolated flash floods will be likely across the area.”
The prediction indicates that rain could continue through Tuesday, when there is a 50% chance of precipitation.
