A woman with a head wound was brought to the Morena District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh with a condom packet covering part of the wound.

When she first went to the Porsa Community Health Centre, the doctor who changed the dressing on her wound was taken aback to see that a condom wrapper had been tied alongside some cotton to staunch the bleeding from her injury.

Reshma Bai, age 70, was brought in after a brick had fallen on her head while she was sleeping. The emergency room ward boy who came prepared with a condom in place of a pressure bandage for a patient.

Due to the severity of her injury, the woman was taken to the local hospital, where the situation quickly escalated.

The lady was a Dharamgarh native. The chief medical officer, Dr. Rakesh Mishra, recalled that when he arrived at the hospital, Dr. Dharmendra Rajpoot was on emergency duty and Anant Ram was the ward boy.

According to an NDTV report, Dr. Dharmendra was quoted as saying, “I instructed the ward boy to keep some cardboard-like material over the cotton pad, but he kept a packet of condom.”

Reshma Bai is the woman’s confirmed name.

The hospital’s dresser has been relocated to another health center in Parikshit Ka Pura, and an investigation has been launched.

About 2.5 lakh people call Porsa home, but the city’s only community health center has space for no more than two doctors to assess each patient.

Aside from the obvious visual horror, doctors also expressed concern that such carelessness could potentially introduce harmful bacteria into the open wound.
