Wilson is likely to throw for more than 4,100 yards.

Russell Wilson has been the most popular pick this offseason for NFL MVP.

Wilson has received more wagers and wagering money at BetMGM than any other player. For Wilson’s debut campaign with the Denver Broncos, anticipation is high.

It therefore seems a little strange that his passing yards total at BetMGM is a respectable 4,099.5.

4,100 yards may not be a layup, but a good quarterback like Wilson can achieve it. Is it wise to wager on the over?

Why you would wager on Russell Wilson’s yards to go above

Wilson wasn’t acquired by the Denver Broncos in a trade so that they could use him as a handoff specialist, as the Seattle Seahawks preferred.

Wilson will be given special attention in the offense, according to new coach Nathaniel Hackett, who has an offensive experience. It should go without saying, but it’s still encouraging to hear. And Wilson has some excellent targets, including running backs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon, who can both catch out of the backfield, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, Courtland Sutton, and Jerry Jeudy.

There’s a perception that Wilson deteriorated last season, but it looks connected to his finger injury in the middle of the season. He returned too soon, and his first two games back were difficult. He accumulated 1,549 yards, 15 touchdowns, three interceptions, and a passing rating of 104.3 during his previous seven games. Although it’s not a large volume, it demonstrates his potential when he was well. Before the injury, he had 1,044 passing yards, nine touchdown passes, and zero interceptions in his first four complete games of the previous season. He was just fine.

Game scripts are another element that favors the over. The Broncos shouldn’t have many simple victories in the AFC West. This season will feature many competitive games with high scoring, which should let Wilson to receive the volume that the Seahawks have never been comfortable giving him.

One more encouraging statistic: According to most fantasy football estimates, Denver has one of the five easiest schedules this year against passing defenses. For instance, Wilson has the second-best QB schedule from Weeks 1 through Week 17 according to FantasyPoints.com. Although predicting schedule strength isn’t a precise science, Wilson shouldn’t be too concerned.

Why you would wager on Wilson’s yards to be under

Wilson has never been a quarterback who throws a lot of passes. It makes you hesitate to wager over 4,099.5 yards considering Wilson has played in the NFL for 10 seasons and his career high is 4,219 yards. Perhaps that is because of the Seahawks’ strategy. Of course, nine of those seasons involved 16 games, while the previous one saw him play only 14. He will play in 17 games this season if healthy.

Additionally, a lot of those Seahawks seasons had some excellent receivers, most recently D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Although Sutton and Jeudy are good, Wilson has had quality receivers all throughout his career. Not overvaluing his new supporting cast is a good idea.

The run game will not be abandoned by the Broncos either. Williams and Gordon both excel on the playing field. This offense won’t start to pass the ball 40 times every game.

Wilson still needs a lot of things to go well in order to reach 4,100 yards. The risk of betting on any season-long under is, of course, that any time missed due to injury typically voids the wager. Wilson may have a fantastic season but fall short of 4,100 yards. He experienced that in Seattle a couple times.

The verdict is favorable. Wilson must have been anticipating that kind of offensive because the Broncos appear eager to give him as many chances as they can.

On May 23, Hackett said, “We want to create this thing fully around him, make sure he’s comfortable, and see him come alive.

Wilson making all those MVP wagers makes sense. In a fresh setting that wants Wilson to be the center of attention rather than just a quarterback who saves the offense when giving the ball off repeatedly doesn’t work, Wilson should have a fantastic season.

Wilson has been waiting for a chance to throw it frequently for a very long time. Wilson is the favorite to establish a new career high in passing yards.
